It started bad and it ended bad for team Sanya´s Pal Virik Nilsen and Marit Stromoy. A failure in the waterpump destroyed the second race just after the start straight. This made one engine hot and no chance to go on. This is something that puts the dot on a frustrating week of failures and a lot of work for the mechanics. They did their best but it did not help because of an infinite number of errors in the technical performance in boat and engines.
Pal says: What can i say? For sure its very frustrating to be here and not get the best out of ourself and the boat. We had a short positive ride in the practice today when the boat seemed normal speed and acceleration terms. I guess we had a pretty good chance to join the mid field with that pace in the race. But as in the first race we got an early end to the day. I'm sorry on behalf of the mechanics who have done their best and been humiliated by an otherwise poorly maintained boat. I think we all deserved better than that. A big thanks to them for the job and that they were motivated until the last minute.
I'm hoping for a better experience and results next time around. But the trip is not wasted when China is an incredibly nice, different and interesting country to see. Now we will be tourists a few days in beautiful Sanya and there will be a nice ending after a race-related decline.
