Pal Virik Nilsen and Massimo Roggiero was out on the water for the first time today. A relatively easy start to the day's first practice because of some problems with visibility out of the boat. But when the problem was fixed to the pole position, the times improved significantly. It takes quite a few laps to get familiar and confident with the boat, but not least, to train a brand new pilot in the class-1 world. The team is satisfied with the first day even if the pole time is currently far behind the leading teams. It was expected and everything goes according to plan in terms of training Massimo.
Pal Says: It's always a challenge to drive a Class 1 boat with someone who has never run offshore before. It's like starting over again slightly. Even more when its my first time out in the boat aslo. I feel Massimo enjoy it more and more, so i see improvements at almost every turn. Compared to circuit racing as he comes from, this is a completely different driving technique. Something that takes time to adjust to. But as usual I'm optimistic and look forward to more fun the next few days. I hope we can improve our times even more and get some points in the race tomorrow.
