Maritimo team has already forgotten this race. Much tings happened for the team this week. On todays practice Maritimo 12 with Peter McGrath and Giorgio Manuzzi spun out big time and destroyed one engine. With not enought time to change the engine before the start, they were unfortunately forced to see the race from land.
Maritimo 11 had some steering problems all week. A change of rudder was supposed to help Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Virik Nilsen. But when the race started it was no better. The boys had a reasonable start but in the first corner the boat did a little spin again. They made a decision to take it easy and just finish with points. After lap five a blower belt was broken and the race was history...
- Just very frustrating Pal says. Not only for Tom and myself, but for the whole crew that has been working 24/7 here in Doha for one month. But i think we can be competitive already in Spain if we get the boat setup right Pal adds.
Now the team need to prepare and try to fix steering problems before round 2 of the Class-1 world championship in Allicante, Spain 5-7 june.
