Pål Virik Nilsen returns to Offshore racing when he and Australian driver Tom Barry-Cotter joins the newly established ”Dubai Duty Free” team in the prestigious X-cat series. The duo will have their X-cat debut already in Italian GP in Stresa 29th august - 1th september.
Pal says: I am very excited about this opportunity together with Dubai Duty Free to enter the XCAT world series. Its a series i have always dreamed to race, but it has never been possible due to other racing commitments and team contracts. Now finally the time is here and i really look forward to the challenge.
And to do it together with young talented Australian Tom Barry-Cotter is just a big bonus for me. Tom and myself goes really well together on and off the racing course. We have a quite long history together in offshore racing and its great we can continue our partnership again since the last race we had together in Class-1 Australia 2010.
I think XCAT is the most professional series we have in powerboat racing for the moment. The management seems to do a great job, going the right direction and i can´t wait to hit the water in Stresa soon enough says an optimistic Pal Virik Nilsen.
Pal (throttles) and Tom (steering) will race a Victory team built 7,5 meter catamaran with twin mercury V6 ,2,5 L outboards witch produce approx 600 hp together. The boat can get top speed around approx 200 km/h (107 knots) depending on setup and propeller choice.

Since many of the races are the same as Pal´s regular F2 schedule, he will now fully concentrate and prepare for the Xcat World Series together with Tom Barry-Cotter.
