Larvik Canceled

Its a sad news but today the organizers announced the cancellation of the big Class-1 race in Larvik, Norway. Class-1 pilot Pal Virik Nilsen says he is suprised about the decition and he is of course very disappointed that he will not be able to compete on home waters.

The Larvik race was ment to be the "new" Arendal race. The Norwegian Class-1 races has been a tradition in the world Class-1 series for decades. This summer it will be none, unfortunately. They blame it on the economic and the bank account is at the moment not large enough to fill the requirements from Class-1 promoter. The deadline from H2O Racing and Nicolo San Germano expired last month.

Disappointed Pal says: I am very dissappointed about this for sure. I was looking forward to race just ten minutes away from home, and i know a lot of people and companies also looked forward to this event. But we must stay realistic and just accept the decition and look forward. But having said that, i must admit i am surprised by the cancellation and that it went so far as it did before the decition.

I thought the organizers had a bit control of the economy since they vent so hard out in the media early. I hope they've done the right job to seek investors. I have personally seen a great increase of interest from sponsors and companies that wanted to make an event out of the race week in Larvik. I wish the company "Big Event Larvik" good luck in the future with their projects.
